About this reconstruction

This is alqadsaih.cjb.net, which forwarded to d1d.net/1/yyy/, as the Internet Archive holds it. Seven pages and six buttons were crawled between May and November 2001. Nothing else survives.

The text is the 2001 text. Five things were changed, and only these five. The untouched archived bytes are kept beside these pages in _original/, so anything below can be checked against them.

• A WebTrends Live tracking beacon on every page has been neutralised. It was really there in 2001 — and the server it calls still answers, so leaving it live would tell a stranger's machine who is reading a dead page in 2026.
• The navigation on the front page is drawn. FrontPage wrote the button images as paths on the author's own hard drive, so they were never uploaded and nobody ever saw them, in 2001 or since. FrontPage did record its own specification in the page — each label, box, typeface, size, colour and link — and the buttons here are rendered from that and nothing else.
• Links to pages the archive never caught now lead to a notice saying so, instead of nowhere.
• Two Flash movies are marked as missing. Both were referenced from the author's own disk or never crawled. There is no copy anywhere.
• The pages were re-encoded from windows-1256 and windows-1252 to UTF-8. Not one character changed — only how they are spelt in bytes. This was forced: a web server's own Content-Type charset overrides the <meta> tag inside a page, and this one serves everything as UTF-8, so a windows-1256 page arrived declared as something it was not and every Arabic letter came out as a replacement character. Re-encoding settles it on any host. _original/ holds the bytes as the archive gave them.

A live mailto: on aart.htm was turned into plain text. The address is still visible; it just will not be harvested.

What the site’s own author says

The live arrangement at live.htm was shown to Yasser al-Rajeh, who built this site in 2001 while he was still at school. He confirmed the look, and corrected two things: the menu of buttons stood on the right, and the club crest stood above it. Both are now as he describes. Before that the side was a guess from the language and the page carried a switch to move it; the switch is gone, because a guess should not be offered beside testimony from the person who wrote the page.

The crest is _logo.gif, supplied by Khalid. It is not an archived file — the underscore marks every file in this folder that did not come off the 2001 site.
