Euromoney World Link (1997)

http://www.euromoney.com/

This site, provided by Euromoney Publications PLC, aims to "produce a sophisticated business and financial site," with an international flavor. It is highlighted by full text of Euromoney and World Link magazines (with searchable and browsable archives back to late 1995). It also contains a section of financial news provided by sponsors such as Bank of America, DG Bank (Germany), TD Securities (Canada), and BMA Capital Management (Pakistan), among others. Data, in the form of bondware tables, and information on global growth companies and country competitiveness are also available, though the latter two are somewhat dated. Although the main purpose of the site is advertising for the many Euromoney publications, there is much content here for those interested in international finance. [JS]

Evenbetter.com (1998)

http://www.evenbetter.com/

Acses, provided by the German Software company Muenchhoff Janz GmbH, adds a new and fascinating wrinkle to buying books on the Internet. The concept is simple. Users can search for the book of interest to them by title, author, keyword or International Standard Book Number (ISBN). Once the book is located, click on it. Fill in a form with your geographic location and how you would like prices displayed (seven currencies are available at present). Then an Acses robot checks retail online bookstores (27 at present--under "retailers") and returns a list of prices from lowest to highest taking into account shipping rates, discounts, and how long it will take the book to arrive. An advanced search (ISBN only) allows comparisons of up to ten books at once. [JS] [Note: Site title has changed since the original Scout Report review. The Excite Assistant provides you with instant access to various types of up-to-date information such as the weather for your area, the broadcast TV shows on at the moment, updated stock quotes, your horoscope, and more. The information is summarized within the Assistant's window, but when an item requires expansion, your browser is launched. By far the most useful aspect of this program is the mail notification feature. If you use Excite's Web-based mail service, the Excite Assistant, if active, will play a sound and it's icon will blink when new mail arrives. Late for work? Forget to do the homework? Since humans began taking on responsibilities, theyâ ve been making up excuses for not doing them. In this Canadian-based Web site, four sections display numerous amusing, often hysterically funny excuses. In the Excuses Teachers Hear section, one story is about a guy who was late because his refrigerator was possessed, he needed to wait for an exorcist. Submissions to the Excuse Generator make up the page content and can be e-mailed to the site using a simple form. No fancy visuals exist here, but the excuses provide plenty of color.

Information available on these office suites includes prices, contacts, photos, and amenities. The Benefits of an Executive Office Suite link will tell you exactly what you get when you lease a suite. You can search for suites just in California, where the suites are divided up into six different regions, or you can browse through the nationwide and international listings. However, there aren't any actual international listings, and the only information for most of the entries on this page is contact information.

ExisNet Interesting Places (1998)

http://www.exchange.com/places.htm

This is a large list of select sites in a wide range of categories. If your interest is in cooking and eating, especially seaonally-appropriate recipes, check out the dining/wines section. If it's games, music, or news you want new info on; if you want to sample what's cool on Mosaic or Netscape; or if your need is to get up to speed on HyperText markup Language (HTML) and to get advice on Windows 95, there are categories for all these too, and many others as well. These are offered in one large list, organized alphabetically by category and by site within each category. The picks are slimmer in some sections than in others, but the choices are always diverse and of high quality. You might consider spending some time here, rain or shine, to see what you might have missed elsewhere.
