Originally the multilingual terminological database of the European Commission's Translation Service, Eurodicautom has been placed online and made available to the general public. The database contains approximately five million entries in twelve languages, including technical terms, abbreviations, acronyms and phraseology. While Eurodicautom "covers a broad spectrum of human knowledge," it focuses especially on terms related to European Union topics. The search interface offers several options, including source and target languages, subject field, and the kind of data (terms, abbreviations, or phraseology) sought. Users may also set and save search and display profiles for future visits. Most first-time visitors will wish to consult the User Guide, provided via the pull-down menu at the top of the page. [MD]

Provided in .pdf format (averaging nine pages), the bulletin consists of a briefly annotated table of contents and four to eight short news stories on a variety of topics. The current Eurofocus contains pieces on regional and social economic aid, a new BSE (mad cow disease) test, a new directive on working time, and recent developments in European telecommunications law. This site, provided by Euromoney Publications PLC, aims to "produce a sophisticated business and financial site," with an international flavor. It is highlighted by full text of Euromoney and World Link magazines (with searchable and browsable archives back to late 1995). It also contains a section of financial news provided by sponsors such as Bank of America, DG Bank (Germany), TD Securities (Canada), and BMA Capital Management (Pakistan), among others. Data, in the form of bondware tables, and information on global growth companies and country competitiveness are also available, though the latter two are somewhat dated. Although the main purpose of the site is advertising for the many Euromoney publications, there is much content here for those interested in international finance. [JS]

Our European Cuisines page -- where you can find links to recipes from some of the harder-to-find continental cuisines, like Maltese and Belgian -- has been growing at such a rate that we're cutting it loose from its parent page, "Edibilia", and giving it a new look. The European Cuisines page can now be found at: http://www.ibmpcug.co.uk/~owls/european_cuisines.html If you've been using the old URL (http://www.ibmpcug.co.uk/~owls/eurocui.htm), please bookmark the new one, as the old page will be vanishing within the next two weeks.
