If there are any folks in your lineage who don't want to be found, they'd better hide quickly, because this genealogy page has the potential to help reconnect thousands of estranged family members after many years of lost contact. Janyce's Root Diggin' Dept is quite appropriately named. You could spend months at this site digging through resources to track down your roots. Scanning through all 28 pages of listings at this site, one finds the following highlights: getting started in genealogy, surname to soundex converter, a Social Security death index, a cemetery locator, ROOTSBOOK (a 3/4 million-person gene database), regional genealogy pages, non-USA genealogy pages, American Indian sources, American Civil War archives, information on preserving photographs and documents, the Association for Gravestone Studies, genealogy newsgroups, adoption resources, and genealogy newsletters. This comprehensive reference work is the result of the efforts of one of your fellow Internauts. It is updated quite frequently with new links, so keep checking back for the latest information.
