Zembla: The Nabokov Butterfly Net Controversy swirled around the debut in 1955 of "Lolita," a novel that shocked, outraged and scintilated the reading public and landed Nabakov in the annals of literary history...and infamy. Created under the aegis of Pennsylvania State University, the Nabokov Butterfly Net Web site is devoted to the academic study of the life and work of this famous Russian novelist, poet, and playwright. Beautifully designed with evocative Nabokovian imagery, the site offers several bibliographies, a timeline, critical essays, scholarly reviews, a collection of photographs,

Zen Buddhism: The Gateless Gate The Gateless Gate is the paradoxical name for the collection of Zen Buddhist koans, which are non-rational stories or sayings that Zen students study to achieve enlightenment. According to Zen, enlightenment always comes after the road of thinking is blocked. Thirty-two sayings are collected, with commentary by Mumon. Unfortunately, there is no introduction to initiate the unfamiliar visitor, and the koans are maddeningly inexplicable. But with some patience and perseverence, a new world of wisdom that is beyond wisdom just might open up. Zen Buddhism: The Gatel

The student replies, "It is not here now. I cannot show it to you." "Then it is not really you, if it is not here at all times, "

Does a dog have a Buddhist nature? For insight into this question and other serious matters of truth, visit this site. You will come away enlightened, confused, or somewhere in between. At the core of this site is a collection of Buddhist koans (short stories relayed by a master to a student that serve as a parable or Zen exercise). In addition, the site contains Zen FAQs (most of which are moot since in Buddhism threre are never any answers), and links to related sites.
