Khalid
84 photographs, 1989 to 2024 — Khobar, Germany, Orlando, Portland, Washington DC, and a football club in the Eastern Province that I have never quite left.
I share parts of my history here, and I have tried to leave other people out as far as possible so as not to embarrass my friends. The pictures follow a linear timeline, much like the Alshaikh family section, and they give some insight into where I have been and what I have got up to over the years. Since my social media accounts are down, I would like to make this my personal space — a virtual album I can come back to and keep adding to.
Childhood — Khobar, 1989–1998
The first years, in my grandfather’s Khobar. Several of these overlap with the family archive next door.
School years, 2002–2006
Khobar and school, with two summers in Germany, ending with graduation.
Orlando, Florida — 2007
I went to the United States to study English. The first time abroad on my own.
Al-Qadsiah
In 2008–2009 I volunteered at the club as vice-president of the media centre. That is where the archiving started — the habit that eventually became this entire website. The later pictures are matches in Khobar and Riyadh.
Portland, Oregon — 2010–2017
Seven years of study in the Pacific Northwest.
Saudi Arabia, 2017–2022
Home again, and the start of the working years.
Washington DC, 2022–2023
Graduate study, and the city.
