The Planetary Coral Reef Foundation (PCRF) is a nonprofit group founded by the same people who developed the well-known Biosphere 2 project in the American Southwest. The purpose of the PCRF is to further the study of coral reefs and measure their impact on a planetary scale. These reefs, which provide crucial chemical and biological resources, have suffered extensive and increasing damage in recent years, due both to the effects of environmental phenomena such as El Niño and to various forms of industrial and commercial pollution. Visitors to this site will find information on the PCRF activities, current location of research vessels, and a plea for contributions of money, equipment, and expertise.

The Planetary GIF Images is a massive compilation of astronomy photographs that are stored at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mt. View, California. There are literally hundreds of huge planetary images taken by various space shuttles such as the Voyager, Galileo, Viking, and Endeavor. Some of the photos can see capture the North Pole of the Moon, the view of a shuttle engine, the moons of Saturn, the great black spot on Neptune, a closeup of the rings on Saturn, and the surface of Venus.

Polar Seaâ s and Polar Starâ s Blue Ice Homepage Polar Sea and Polar Star are the names of two U.S. Coast Guard ships, known as ice breakers, that are sent once a year to Antarctica, as part of "Operation Deep Freeze." Their goal is to clear a 30 mile blue ice-free pathway, and then escort a tanker and some cargo ships, with supplies for U.S. researchers, to a port in McMurdo, Antarctica. The trip, which begins in Seattle, Washington, takes between five to six months to complete.
